New Archery Park

During this years Shoot For Our Troops you will have the opportunity to view the new archery park located on the same grounds of the Ouachita Parish Sheriffs Training Center. This new park is under construction with the kids 11 target range including a 70 yard above ground boardwalk being completed this week. The park will also contain 10 target handicap accessible lanes that will be 6 foot wide, 10 to 50 yards long and concreted, 30 permanent walk through bag target stations, a NASP/NFAA 80 yard field range and a 25 foot platform to shoot from an elevated position. The first week of every month the park will place 20 to 25 3D targets out for shooting. All of the walk paths within the facility will be graveled, bridges are being constructed over the wet areas and rest areas with water stations are located along the trails. This facility will be one that the south will be proud of. This facility will also be used for NASP events, kid's archery clinics and camps as well as daily usage from the public.

Known Distance Course At Shoot For Our Troops

During the two day shoot we will be putting up a 15 target known distance course that will reside on the "B" course we used last year. You will have the opportunity both days to shoot the course as many times that you like. There will be a $10.00 fee to shoot the course. We will be awarding some nice prizes from Scott Archery. Be sure to check it out while your here.

New Start Process For Both Days

For all of the participants for this years Shoot For Our Troops, we have changed the start process for both days. We were initially going to have start times for all participants being either 7: am or 12 pm. We have re-evaluated the benefits of shooting with a group you bring and have decided on this format. All Pro shooters (Pro Money and Pro Trophy) will shoot at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday (Shotgun start) with their shoot down taking place immediately after their Sunday round. For all other participants, you may start anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with the group you bring. Groups must have at least 4 shooters. You will shoot either course "C" or "D" on Saturday and the other on Sunday. Sunday shoot times will be from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Senior and Open shoot downs will begin as these classes return on Sunday.
